The Department of English at the ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´ invites applications for a Sessional Instructor for the 2026 First Summer Semester to teach ENGL 2910. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

 

ENGL 2910 – Plays, Playhouses, and Place: Shakespeare in London and Stratford-Upon-Avon
There is nothing like seeing a live performance of Shakespeare, especially at the Globe Theatre in London or in Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford-Upon-Avon. This 2000-level course explores Shakespeare through performances, workshops, backstage tours, and site visits in both London and Stratford. The course begins with asynchronous online lectures and resources and two online information sessions, followed by 7 days of travel. ÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´s will see at least 4 plays and visit the Globe Theatre, Shakespeare's birthplace and grave, the archaeological dig at the Rose Theatre foundations, as well as other galleries, theatres, and historic sites that locate Shakespeare in the places he was writing in, about, and for.

 

Qualifications:
Successful applicants will have a PhD specialization in Shakespeare and Early Modern English Literature, experience in study abroad programs at UPEI, and professional contacts in London and Stratford to facilitate the field trip portion of this course.

Preference will be given to the qualified candidates with seniority on the UPEI Sessional Roster and full-time and term contract Faculty Members of the Academic unit.
