Maintenance Repair 2 - Aquatics Facility Maintenance Repair - Department of Facilities Management
$61,961 per annum, as per IBEW 1928
The ÐÓ°ÉÔ´´, Facilities Management Department, is seeking applicants for the position of Aquatics Facility Systems Maintenance Repair in the Atlantic Veterinary College’s Aquatic Animal Facility. This position requires an individual with skills in systems processes, monitoring, maintenance, and equipment setup applicable to an aquatic research facility. Candidates should have knowledge of, and demonstrated experience in equipment and technologies required for the provision of water and air quality standards appropriate for the life support of aquatic animals in a research environment. An interest in and experience in aquatic animal husbandry in a research environment would be considered an asset.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitoring and maintenance of aquatics control systems and equipment under prescribed housing and specified controlled environmental conditions including disinfection
- Administer preventive maintenance programs and standard operating procedures in support of the Aquatic Animal Facility and assist on campus operations as needed
- Participate in the construction and installation of custom live-holding systems for aquatic animal species
- Assist with equipment setup and operation procedures
- Ability to respond to after-hours equipment and systems emergencies as required
- Other facility-related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or Certificate or Journeyman/License in an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) or related trade with Red Seal endorsement from a recognized institution is required. A combination of related education, training and experience will be considered
- Five (5) years’ experience as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) related experience ideally in an aquatic animal containment facility are required
- A combination of other training, relevant aquatic systems maintenance experience, experience and working knowledge in plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, building/systems controls would be considered an asset
- Preference will be given to those with some experience in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment
- Valid driver’s license, a Criminal Record Check and may be required to obtain a Federal Government security clearance
